Engine bay & wheels
Engine bay and wheel detailing
Engine covers degreased and dressed, brake dust cut out of the spokes.
Dust, leaves and oil film around the covers
An engine bay collects whatever the road throws at it. Leaves settle at the base of the windshield, dust packs into the seams around the plastic covers, and a thin oil film turns the whole bay dull and tacky to the touch.
The bay is cleaned by hand with the sensitive areas covered first. Covers are degreased and dressed so they go back to an even, dark finish instead of a greasy shine, and the hoses and brackets read clean again under the hood light.
Two engine bays are shown below, an Audi V6 3.2 FSI and an Infiniti V6, each before and after from the same angle.

Brake dust baked into spokes and barrels
Brake dust is iron and carbon thrown off every time the pads bite. It bakes onto the face of the wheel, lodges in the spokes and coats the inner barrel, where an ordinary car wash never reaches.
On the Hyundai alloy shown further down, the dust sits thick enough to hide the edges of the spokes. After cleaning, the same wheel is back to bare metal, and the tires are dressed so the sidewalls match the finish.
Deep wheel and tire cleaning is one of the steps in the paint correction sequence, and it can be booked on its own as well.
Added to a detail or booked alone
Engine bay and wheel work can be added to any detail or requested by itself. No standalone price is published for either one, so each job is quoted for the vehicle in front of us.
Call (203) 893-6425 or email ModernVehicleCare@gmail.com with the make, model and what the bay or wheels look like today. A photo helps.
All appointments are drop-off only. There is no waiting area, and clients may not wait in their vehicle during service.

Drag the line across each bay. Both frames are lined up on the same angle, so what moves is the dirt.

The top frame is the wheel as it arrived, caked in brake dust. The bottom frame is the same wheel cleaned, with the tire dressed around it.
Wheels and tires get this treatment as part of every paint correction. Finished cars are on the gallery, and the studio takes bookings on the appointment page or through the contact page.
