Getting Your Car Ready for a Drop-Off Detailing Appointment
A few minutes of prep before you arrive makes the whole job go smoother.

Modern Vehicle Care works by appointment, one vehicle at a time. You drop the car off, and you pick it up when it is done. A little prep on your end helps the work go smoothly.
How drop-off works
All appointments are drop-off only. There is no waiting area, and clients may not wait in their vehicle during service. Plan to leave the car and arrange a ride or a way to get around. The shop is at 40 Union City Road, Suite H, in Prospect.
Headlight work is in store Friday - Sunday. For other services, confirm the day when you book.
What to take out of the car
- Anything valuable: wallet, laptop, sunglasses, loose change, garage openers you do not need.
- Child seats, if you can remove them, so seats and carpets can be reached.
- Papers, receipts, and gym bags from the seat pockets and trunk.
- Toll tags or parking passes you want to keep.
- Anything hanging from the mirror that you would hate to see lost.
You do not need to vacuum or wash the car first. That is part of the job. Just clear out your belongings.
What to tell Don
Before the appointment, tell Don the things that change the work. These are worth a quick call or email:
- The make, model, and year, so he can check which headlight tier applies.
- Any known paint damage: deep scratches, past repaints, rock chips, or peeling clear coat.
- Any aftermarket wrap, film, or paint protection already on the car.
- Anything that does not work properly, such as a leaky window seal or a loose trim piece.
- What bothers you most. Cloudy headlights, swirled paint, a worn driver's seat. Say it first.
What to expect on arrival
On headlight jobs, the car is wrapped in plastic and each lens is taped off before the work starts. For paint correction, sensitive areas are taped before the machine touches the panel. The shop works on one vehicle at a time, so yours gets the whole bay.
Before you leave the car
Walk around the car once and take a few phone photos. Existing dings and scratches are easier to point out when you both have a record. Hand over every key and fob the shop needs, and leave a phone number you will actually answer.
When you come back
Pick the car up in daylight if you can and look it over outside, not just in the shop. Sunlight shows paint and glass better than any garage light. If something looks off, say so right then, while Don is there to look at it with you.
Bring your questions
If you are unsure about anything, such as which service fits the car or whether a mark will come out, ask before drop-off. A two minute call is cheaper than a surprise.
How to book
Book online at /book-appointment, call (203) 893-6425, or email ModernVehicleCare@gmail.com. Paint correction is quoted by email, so send your make and model and a couple of photos. Hours are not posted, so book first and do not just stop by.
